The School Blues

The first week of school is over. I haven't seen so much homework since high school. And I still got six more semesters to go. Ugh!

Card Party Cake

It was a good day, yesterday. The Packers won and the cake I had to make a friend's aunt's 60th birthday turn out well. It was a Card Party theme and the cake was a rush order.  I didn't have anything on-hand that would fit the theme. I told the customer that I would do my best to try work the theme into the cake.

As time got close to party time. I still didn't have an idea of what I was going to do. I found some gambling theme buttons in my craft room. I got out my fabulous new tool and fondant. Here's what I came up with...
I think I did pretty good.
The aftermath...what a wonderful site!
Til next time, sweet baking.

Cakes, cakes, cakes and more cakes...

January has been a great month so far. I'm getting to do more cakes then I even have. I just had a customer leave with her cake for her daughter's cake. She seem pleased.

It wasn't some my best work, but it was still cute. At least I thought. I haven't worked with buttercream frosting in a long time. I have gotten use to using fondant (which I'm proud of my progress) and ganache.

Anywhoo...here's the Princess cake. I know it looks a little funny, but I bet it tastes great. I'll get'em next time.  Off the kitchen to finish my last cake of the day.

The Goat Rodeo...

Today was suppose to be "bread day", but I got busy with the Goat Rodeo aka life. So hopefully, I will be able to make some bread soon.

However, this weekend I do have a princess cake to do. I will try to get pictures up soon.

Have a Sweet Day!

From a Lemon Bar, to a Lemon Brick

These were a Christmas gift for my friend's husband. He looooooves Lemon Bars. He has told me that they are "almost" as good as his grandmother. Funny...what young person can out cook or bake a grandma?
Since I'm all about enjoying dessert, I decided to make his lemon bars how I like them, thick, creamy and full lemony flavor.
He was kind of shock to see the size of the bars, but life is too short to not enjoy dessert.
He gave my god-daughter a bite...OMG! These are like a Lemon Brick. They are huge!
Out of the mouth of an 18 y/o...lol

Birthday Celebration

This year started off with a bang! I got the pleasure of making a Quarter of a Century birthday cake, for really great girl. She was great to work with, even though she a had a hard time picking a cake flavor. I think she was in cake overload!
She finally settle on Chunky Monkey. A chocolate cake with a banana filling, peanut butter frosting and topped with a rich ganache. Very yummy, if I do say so myself.

Topper was an A for her name and 25 for her age.

The birthday girl and her cake. Too cute!
